If you live in New England or Vermont and you’re anything like me, you start to feel the winter drag right around end of February and early March. We may have a few sunny days, but the stretch of grey and cold weather is on it’s track for another few months until we see the sun again in May.
BUT, if you’re anything like Kayse and Miranda, you see Vermont as the magical winter wonderland that it is, that sometimes we forget about. When Kayse first contacted me, I recognized the southern twang in her voice as she told me she and Miranda are living in New Orleans and were planning an escape week to Vermont to come play in the snow and go snowboarding. This was going to be an extra special trip for the two of them, Kayse said, she was planning on popping the question in the quaint town of Weston, Vermont (home of what has to be Vermont’s largest and most charming country store). I was so excited to get to play a part in Kayse’s surprise proposal as their photographer, and for these Southerner’s to get a taste of what makes Vermont so magical.
It turned out to be one of the most beautiful warm February days, the sun shining and the snow glittering. Kayse set up a beautiful arrangement of bouquets overlooking a waterfall and one of the town’s historical museums. After the surprise proposal (and an enthusiastic ‘yes!’), the two celebrated with their 9-year old daughter and close friends with a fun engagement photo session with Amelia Marie Photography.
I can’t thank these two for embracing the day, and for having me as such a special part of it! It’s not every day that you’re surprised with a ring and… a photographer lurking behind a bush.
Congratulations Kayse, Miranda, and Ali!
