The 10 Best Stowe Wedding Venues With Mountain Views

Why Book a Stowe Wedding Venue for Your Dream Mountain Wedding or Elopement?

When couples envision Stowe for their wedding or elopement, it’s a natural choice for those drawn to the outdoors, exceptional farm-to-table cuisine, and an experience that feels intimate, elevated, and memorable.

Nestled at the base of Mount Mansfield—the highest peak in Vermont—Stowe is just a scenic 45-minute drive from Burlington International Airport. Often described as something out of a Hallmark movie, the town is filled with quaint coffee shops, winding woodland trails, and classic seasonal charm—from horse-drawn sleigh rides in the winter to some of the best skiing, hiking, and biking in New England.

Stowe offers a great mix of high-end, luxurious venues and rustic, intimate inns that could be the perfect spot for your wedding weekend. Sprawling estates like Edson Hill offer romantic, refined accommodations, while spaces like the Lodge at Spruce Peak host full-service events with amenities like golfing, ice skating, skiing and more. If you’re planning a more quiet and intimate elopement weekend, there are plenty of cozy inns and sweeping mountain views to feed your adventurous flame.

When to Book Your Dream Stowe Wedding Venue

Vermont is home to four stunning seasons and whether you’re an avid ski enthusiast or a summer woodland wanderer, Stowe offers mountain view wedding venues in every season.

Autumn (Mid September – Mid-October)

Vermont has a breathtaking, albeit fleeting, foliage season which is one of the main reasons that travelers come from all over during leaf-peeping season. If you’re planning a wedding or elopement during peak foliage, plan on booking at least a year in advance for your venue and accommodations and be prepared for the tourist traffic. Planning your wedding or elopement on a weekday offers a more relaxed, crowd-free experience.

Winter (Mid-December – March)

You’ll probably want to skip November in Vermont (or as we call it, “stick season”) for good reason. The leaves are gone, the trees are bare, and the days are short. However, once the snow starts to stick to the ground in December, Stowe is one of the best ski attractions in the state. Not a fan of the slopes? There’s so much more to do – from ice skating, sleigh rides, walking in the woods, and cozying up at your favorite restaurant. Not to mention, there’s something so magical about a winter wedding surrounded by snowfall.

Spring / Summer (May – September)

Again, you’ll likely want to avoid late March and most of April in Vermont as we transition to mud season (like stick season just more dirt and mud). In mid to late May, the trees and flowers start blooming and the Green Mountains show off their greenery for the start of spring. Though it rarely reaches the 90’s in the summer in Vermont, the shaded woods and streams in Stowe will keep you cool and daytime outdoor activities like hiking, biking, and golf will keep your guests entertained.

Von Trapp Family Lodge

Have you heard of the Von Trapp family? Yes, that family – the singing, dancing Von Trapp children who stole the hearts of young Americans in the 1965 musical film, Sound of Music. Well, the hills sure are alive – and the rolling mountain views from the Von Trapp Lodge and Resort are breathtaking. The property consists of over 2,500 acres of wooded peaks and valleys which are especially stunning during the peak foliage season in October. The concert meadow ceremony location offers sweeping panorama views of the mountains and the tented reception area is nestled among the fields of highland cows that will give your wedding guests the full Vermont experience.

The Lodge at Spruce Peak

If you want the best front-row views of Mount Mansfield on your wedding or elopement day, you cannot beat the Lodge at Spruce Peak, the mountain lodge nestled at the bottom of Stowe mountain. This venue has multiple ceremony options for Vermont weddings and elopements – from intimate terraces to large ballrooms and outdoor ceremony sites overlooking the peak. Not to mention, if you plan a magical winter elopement, you can spend your day on the ice rink skating, or enjoying the slopes and apres-ski vibe with cozy fireplaces.

Stowe Mountain

Are dramatic, sweeping mountain views on your Vermont wedding or elopement day checklist? Ride the Gondola up to the Cliff House at Stowe Mountain Resort and you are literally on the edge of Mt. Mansfield (and Vermont’s) highest mountain peak. Inside the Cliff House, there are panoramic views from each side, making it the perfect venue for an outdoorsy couple hosting an intimate wedding. If you’re even more adventurous, you can opt to drive up the windy Mount Mansfield Toll Road to the peak of the mountain, which offers multiple mountain views and endless pull-offs to get the most out of your “choose-your-own-adventure” wedding or elopement day. There’s even a small chapel at the halfway point of the toll road – the perfect intimate spot to say your vows to each other.

Edson Hill

If your wedding day vision includes a luxurious, dreamy, private estate experience – Edson Hill is one of the most stunning high-end Stowe wedding venues. This 38-acre estate hosts only a few intentional weddings per year so that you can truly be present and enjoy your time with guests without feeling rushed in and out for the weekend. There are several beautiful curated spaces for your ceremony, cocktail hour and reception which include spacious green meadows, serene ponds, and tented patios that creates a space that feels luxurious, calm and deeply personal. Not to mention, the food at Edson Hill is top-notch and your guests will experience an elevated Vermont farm-to-table style meal that sources local ingredients and an expert culinary team.

Topnotch Resort

The Topnotch Resort is one of those Stowe wedding venues where you show up for the weekend and leave so relaxed that you’re already planning your next getaway. The vibe of the resort is relaxed and personal, and has wonderful amenities including indoor and outdoor pools, in-house restaurants, and luxurious spa (plus they are a dog-friendly Vermont wedding venue!) The outdoor ceremony area that overlooks the Stowe mountainside is very accessible for all guests and makes it an easy option for a beautiful backdrop without too much adventure. Depending on the size of your event, there are additional location options for your celebration including the ceremony lawn, mountain view pavilion tent, and pinnacle ballroom that can host up to 250 guests.

Timberholm Inn

If you want a quaint, cozy, quiet weekend with your most intimate loved ones for your Stowe wedding or elopement day, the Timberholm Inn is an historic and rustic lodge that is centered around warm vibes, good food, and friends and family. Imagine a day or weekend where you get to relax in the outdoor hot tub, enjoy the nearby nature trails, or spend the evening relaxed by the campfire roasting marshmallows.

The Barn at Smuggler’s Notch

Though technically located on the other side of Mount Mansfield in Jefferson, Vermont, The Barn at Smuggler’s Notch is still considered an outstanding venue for Stowe mountain views. It is especially beautiful in the summer, when the ceremony backdrop is filled with wildflower fields and a stunning view of Mount Mansfield that is hard to beat. Paired with an arbor with some decorative florals, this is one of those venues where the landscape really impresses your guests with minimal effort. The reception barn has great natural light (compared to most dark, rustic Vermont barn venues) and a bright, modern “getting ready” area for the couple which makes planning and logistics a breeze. Though there are no accommodations at the venue, the Smuggler’s Notch Resort is minutes down the road and can host all your guests for the event.

Eden-The Lemelson Estate

If your dream is a luxury, private estate where the entire space is all yours for you and your guests, this grand mansion is completely secluded and elevated for a full wedding weekend experience. Best for intimate weddings, the estate hosts 8 bedrooms and 8 bathrooms and sleeps up to twenty people. Though the house is grand and sprawling, the property still feels intimate enough to spend your wedding day with all your favorite people and enough amenities (heated pool, saunas, steam room, tennis court, nature trails) to keep them entertained all weekend long.

Stone Hill Inn

This intimate, romantic inn is a beautiful mountainside location for a small, intimate wedding or elopement with less than 30 guests. The ideal couple for this venue would enjoy a quiet, intentional day with cozy interiors, beautiful gardens, and luxury without the larger scale wedding.

Airbnb / VRBO

Another great option for an intimate wedding or elopement celebration, Airbnb and VRBO have some beautiful options with mountain views that can be a perfect celebration location for your dream Stowe wedding. However, it’s important to note that you must get written permission from the host before hosting an event, and there may be additional charges to do so.

Why Book a Stowe Wedding Photographer?

Booking a wedding photographer who is local to Stowe makes a meaningful difference in how seamlessly and effortlessly your wedding day unfolds. A local photographer brings an intimate familiarity to Stowe wedding venues, understanding exactly how the light moves across the mountains, where to find quiet moments away from guests, and how to navigate each space with ease.

Beyond the well-known locations, they also have a deep knowledge of hidden gems—those off-the-beaten-path overlooks, wooded trails, and secluded spots that make elopements feel truly personal and unique. This local insight not only elevates the visual storytelling of your day but also helps create a more relaxed, intentional experience, allowing you to fully immerse yourselves in the experience of your celebration without worrying about logistics or missed opportunities.

When to Book Your Stowe Wedding Photographer

The best time to book your photographer for peak foliage season in Vermont is a year to a year and a half in advance, as these dates fill up the most quickly. Depending on your venue, there could be limited availability during this time as well. For all other dates, a general rule of thumb is to book about a year in advance for weddings.
